Katie Bilodeau

Staff Attorney, Friends of the Clearwater

Katie Bilodeau works for Friends of the Clearwater (FOC), which is headquartered in Moscow, Idaho. Friends of the Clearwater, a non-profit since 1987, defends, educates, and advocates for the wildlands and biodiversity of the Idaho Clearwater Bioregion, which is Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) ancestral lands. Using Forest Service data, Katie has co-authored reports that have critically examined the agency’s management of the nation’s roadless inventory in Idaho and Montana as well as the agency’s practice of supersized clearcuts. With her colleagues, Katie spends time monitoring on-the-ground conditions of our public lands in North-central Idaho. She and her fellow staff at FOC hold our government transparently accountable by securing records through Freedom of Information Act requests and by commenting on proposed Forest Service projects—generally logging projects—with the best scientific and existing information available. Katie received her J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law with emphases in Native American law and in natural resource and environmental law. Katies also has an M.S. in Water Resources from the University of Idaho and a B.A. in Japanese from the University of Notre Dame.
