Clare Magee is Senior Advisor to Loan Programs Office Executive Director Jigar Shah, within the U.S. Department of Energy.

Clare has devoted her 14-year energy career to deploying demand-side resources and renewables into both restructured and vertically integrated markets. She was Director of the solar program at Shell Energy North America’s retail electric subsidiary, which pioneered a synthetic imitation of net metering and became the exclusive partner of Tesla Energy in ERCOT. She was also founding Principal of the global Power & Renewables forecasting practice shared between Greentech Media Research and Wood Mackenzie. Most recently, she led Commercial & Industrial go-to-market strategy at Uplight, which delivers customer analytics and demand-side management software to 90+ U.S. utilities. 

Clare holds an MA from the Lyndon Baines Johnson School at the University of Texas at Austin, where she founded the university-wide energy club. She is published in community solar business models and utility valuation of distributed solar.
