Felicity Barringer is the Writer in Residence at Stanford University’s Bill Lane Center for the American West. Since 2016 she has produced an environmental journalism blog called ” … & the West.” Before that, in her 28 years writing and editing at The New York Times, she covered the Soviet Union, the United Nations, and the press before serving for a decade as national environmental correspondent. She is the author of “Flight From Sorrow,” the biography of a woman who lost her family to Nazi persecution and the Soviet gulag.
